The Olympic Games haven’t even begun, and yet we still can’t wait for the formalities to be over and done with. All non-athletically minded souls will be watching the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics for one reason. Well, three good reasons.
It has been reported that Croydon gal Kate Moss, anger management therapy advocate Naomi Campbell and hot-but-dull-as-dishwater Rosie Huntington-Whitely are set to make the Closing Ceremony of this year’s Games one of the most fashionable yet when they grace the stadium with their appearance. No one has a clue what they’ll be doing, but the good thing is, they probably have no idea either.
Just think of that after party.

It seems kind of fitting that the good London Olympics folk selected three models who each represent one of the past three decades: Naomi (80s), Kate (90s) and Rosie (Noughties).
No doubt these girls were also picked for single-handedly keeping the GDP of Columbia Britain running.
We’re also hoping and praying the rumour of the Spice Girls making an appearance at the Opening Ceremony is true, although 10 million pounds each still wasn’t enough to make Victoria Beckham smile at their reunion tour from a few years ago. They famously promised to visit Australia as well as a host of other countries, but then pulled out at the last minute, probably because they couldn’t stand each other while on tour and were reminded why the group broke up in the first place.
Anyway, back to the British trio. The rumour mill spun into overdrove upon hearing the girls would be donning the (no doubt free) clobber from British designers, such as Vivienne Westwood and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
The Poms will no doubt be taking a (gum?) leaf out of Australia’s book, with Elle Macpherson appearing at the Closing Ceremony for the Sydney Olympics. She appeared on a giant camera, and strutted down its extended lens, just like a catwalk. Interestingly, Elle now hosts Britain’s Next Top Model.
I think of my favourite Kate Moss stories took place on the evening of the Golden Age Of Couture exhibition opening at the Victoria & Albert in London back in 2007.
Kate arrived looking stunning in a floor length gold gown that had a train of about a few feet.
Fellow trashbag Courtney Love was also invited, and as the evening wore on, everyone had a few champagnes (and who know what else). With everyone a bit tipsy and unsteady on their feet, Courtney unknowingly stepped on the train of Kate dress, causing one major split up the side.
Not to let a wardrobe malfunction get in the way of a good party, Kate hurried off to the loo and tied up the dress just below her hip, making for quite an epic fashion statement and a completely different look. Sow’s ear and all that.
Hopefully Kate will spin a pole again for the Closing Ceremony, just like she did in the video for the White Stripes’ I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself. Still one of the hottest videos ever.
